What are personal data?

By personal data or personal information, we mean information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.

What is Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky VirusDesk?

Kaspersky VirusDesk is a web page designed to scan files for viruses and provide you with scanning results, to help us improve our detection methods in your best interest and at the same time provide you with additional information regarding any files that might in fact either be

a) malicious, but which Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus software has not detected and/or rated as malicious (“Infected”), or

b) clean, but which Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus software has erroneously rated as malicious (“False Alarm”).

For this purpose, Kaspersky VirusDesk allows you to upload a file (of up to 50 MB of size) to our servers to perform scans and allow our experts to analyse it with regard to possible malware infection.

What information we gather and use?

We at Kaspersky Lab respect your desire to protect personal information. Therefore, we will only gather and use personal information required for full-scale operation of Kaspersky VirusDesk.

You make all decisions regarding whether or not to provide personal information. However, please note that if you do not wish to provide the necessary information, you may not be able to use Kaspersky VirusDesk. For example, if a file you want to upload for scanning contains personal data, it is solely your responsibility to assess and decide whether you want to and are allowed to share the data with us. We at Kaspersky Lab will use such data for the purpose of scanning and analysing it for possible malware infection, but we cannot take responsibility regarding your right to share them with us in the first place.

Notification and provision of analysis results via e-mail

If you like to receive feedback regarding the possible malware infection of information you have provided to us, you can enter your e-mail address after clicking on “I want to get check results by email”. We will use your e-mail address in order to provide you with such results and to provide you with customer support services based on your previous requests.

We encrypt the transmission of all personal information using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology and only store that information in secured data centres with restricted access.

With whom the personal data may be shared?

However, please be advised that we may have to disclose your personal information if legally required to do so by government agencies, judicial courts or law enforcement bodies, or to protect the safety of the public or any person, or to prevent or stop activity we consider to be illegal.
